A summary of the a letter sent by Bishop O'Donoghue of Lancaster to all the teachers of the Diocese is included with anote thathe full text can be accessed on the CES website as is extracts from the Service of Commissioning prepared by the Leeds Diocese RE Team for Education Sunday.

There is also a lengthy feature celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Bishop Challenor Catholic School in Birmingham. Also mentioned: Stoneyhurst College Carol singing tradition for charity on the streets of London; St John's College, Southsea and Ursuline Prep School, Brentwood.

The Walsingham Interaction for Peace Pilgrimage is also featured.

ACCE The Association of Chaplains in Education Annual Conference
ACCE celebrated ten years of work at its conference at Ushaw College where Lord David Alton, Fr Kevin Dring and Helen Bardy featured as the main speakers. Bishop Ambrose Griffiths presided at the conference Mass.

Association of Catholic Sixth Form Colleges Bi-annual Conference
The EU Directive on Discrimination and its possible effect on Catholic 6th Form Colleges remains a matter of concern although assurances seem to be forthcoming from DfES. The position of Chaplains in the sector is the subject of on-going discussion.

Nottingham Diocesan Secondary Headteachers Conference, Edward Hayes
Promoting the whole person - the challenge for our schools
A Diocese that knows where it is going and where its schools fit into the mission. A schools’ conference following a Diocesan Assembly allowing for a rooting in the local Church’s sense of mission seems almost a luxurious dream to most Headteachers.

Kevin Quigley guided the conference through the first day in theologically formed presentation. Sir John Jones delivered the school improvement message on the Saturday morning session. The "Networking" website at www.netcet.com was launched.

World Union of Catholic Teachers - Joe Hughes - New Challenges - Same Goals
