About

The journal Networking Catholic Education Today first appeared in print in September 1999 and has been produced in five editions each academic year since. It has now completed thirty editions in six volumes. The venture was established by a group of experienced and committed Catholic educators supported by professional contacts a arising from involvement over many years. Networking, Catholic Education Today, has been supported by the Centre for Research and Development in Catholic Education and CAFOD as well as the Catholic Teacher organisations, CATSC (The Catholic Association of Teachers, School and Colleges) and CISC (The Catholic Independent Schools Conference) as their house journal.

Arising from the publication has grown a number of related activities in particular with the personnel meeting requests for In-service and consultancy in Catholic Schools. This and other continuing involvement in the education field has meant that the core team has been kept alert to national developments and their implications for Catholic schools. As a result of the success of the publication and these activities, a not-for–profit company, trading as NETCET was established to formalise the structure.

More recently, the core team has expanded and the number of directors has been increased, bringing an even wider range of experience to the initiative. This has widened the range of activities to include preparation and delivery of course for Catholic governors and Governing bodies, involvement in Research projects as well as providing for conferences and seminars.

A particular feature has been the growth of global contacts and links with Catholic educators throughout the English speaking world. These contacts, which have included study and consultancy visits to other countries, have through contributions and readership, brought an understanding of the uniqueness and universality of issues facing Catholic education. The topic of formation for leadership is one such issue.
